Greetings from China
The best investment since moving to China: an umbrella! My feet are webbing and I am growing gills. If it isn’t raining, it might as well be, that is how humid it is currently. Anybody need any rain — I will gladly ship or pray it your way. I miss the sun; I need my sunshine!! Chinese lesson for this update: Yue Hu (pronounced yuh who) is the center where I am working. Actually, it is the area where the center is located. I am currently on loan to another center, but I already know one thing Santa is bring me this Christmas, my very first regular class. It is scheduled for Sunday morning at 9:30am (SA time, 7:30pm). Ni hao (pronounced knee how) means hello and Ni hao ma ((knee how mah) how are you, roughly. I can also count up to 10 and Gi lo (gee low) is chicken meat or chicken. Random culture thoughts: 1. you can not be a germaphobe in China 2. transporting yourself form one place to another is, well, hazardous to one’s health. People drive on any flat surface; people walk in the roads; bikes, mopeds drive where they feel like. 3. The people really have no concept of personal space. 4. Gentlemen don’t often give their seat to a lady/older person, etc. on a bus or subway. I have done it a few times and the reactions were interesting.
This has been an eventful week with lots to share. I do want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. I will be working on Thanksgiving and Christmas, in fact, the class I mentioned starts on 12/25.
Love you all and thanks for all the emails. Good bye and peace to all! David
